Be Still, and Know I Am God

Those have been the words I've been wrestling with for a month. They are heavy words to deal with, if you really try to live it out. It involves you silencing your voice, and acknowledging the being that created you and everything around you. It is difficult enough when you are surrounded by the culture we are involved in. But even more so when the things that you surround yourself with and that you love have lied and decieved you.

God asks us to be still in the moment of our despair, when the moment we're in is chaotic and makes no sense, when you're being yanked around and are confused and lost about everything. He asks us to be still when injustice and betrayal is all we can see and feel, when the things we trust most are revealed to be a lie. He asks us to be still and endure as the waves of pain keep hitting us, and we feel ready to give up any hope that we have left, ready to throw ourselves into things that we know will not last or satisfy us.

To be still and know He is God means letting everything that's bothering you and that you want to fix and not doing anything individually about it, instead letting God do what He wills. It means ignoring everything that you wish so badly you could do, even if it is attainable, saying God You are in control, and living that out.

When you do this, it takes an ample amount of courage for you to do this. But if you truly mean it in your heart, God will come. He will take the things that are holding onto your heart, and give you relief from it. He will take the tainted pained words coming out of your mouth and change them into words of healing, words that give strength, words that show love. He will take the memories of your past, and will help you understand, and deaden the pain.

And when the God of the universe asks you to be still and know that He is God, you are a fool to say no.
